Day 1: Arrival in Windhoek

Welcome to Namibia. On your arrival in Windhoek, a meet & greet awaits you at the airport. Our local contact will assist you with the hire of your hire car and ensure a smooth handover – so you can start your journey through this beautiful and varied country in a relaxed manner.

Stroll through Windhoek in the afternoon, visit the famous Ink Palace and the old fortress. In the evening, you can dine at “Joe’s Beer House”, where excellent local dishes such as springbok and zebra steak are on the menu.

Hotel: The Elegant Guesthouse - 1 Night

The chic boutique guesthouse is completely different in look and feel from its contemporaries in Namibia. We have endeavoured to combine what is popular and elegant in Namibia with what is authentic. The fusion of Namibian chic with modern comfort has resulted in a uniquely Namibian guest house. This dynamic blend will appeal to both the leisure traveller and the businessman.

Standard Room
The 17 en-suite rooms are bright, stylish and characterised by modern, edgy design. All rooms have Wi-Fi access, secure in-room safes, ample space for hanging clothes, luggage racks, separate air conditioning units and satellite TV. Twin-size beds with high-quality bed linen and a range of premium amenities ensure a restful night's sleep and a comfortable stay. The transitions between the rooms and the communal areas are smooth and comfortable, making Elegant Guesthouse the preferred accommodation for a stay in Windhoek.

Day 2: Continue to the Kalahari

Your first tour takes you to your accommodation in the Kalahari, around 260 km away (journey time approx. 3 hours). After an impressive drive into the southern part of Namibia, you will reach your lodge in the afternoon. Spend the rest of the day relaxing by the pool and enjoying the Namibian sun.

Day 3: Game drive & Stargazing

So that you can enjoy the unique beauty of the Kalahari, I have already included a 2-hour game drive for you today.

As soon as night falls over the Kalahari Desert, it becomes magical. Don’t miss the chance to take a look at the sky and marvel at the twinkling constellations of the southern hemisphere, which appear close enough to touch.

Hotel: Bagatelle Kalahari Game Ranch - 2 Nights

The lodge is situated on the edge of the southern Kalahari in the mixed tree and shrub savannah and is criss-crossed by huge red sand dunes. We attach great importance to the conservation of nature and its creatures, so that you can experience numerous animal and plant species up close. Observe antelopes, springboks, zebras, ostriches, meerkats and cheetahs at close quarters. Or let the authentic Bushmen introduce you to their ancient traditions.

Dune Chalet
Enjoy your stay in a luxuriously furnished Dune Chalet with plenty of comfort and a breathtaking view of the desert life. The nearby waterhole attracts wildlife and is a great place for game viewing.

Day 4: Continue to Sossusvlei

After breakfast, continue with your hire car to Sossusvlei, around 350 km away (journey time approx. 4 hours). After an impressive drive through the sea of sand, you will arrive at your lodge in the late afternoon.

The rest of the day is at leisure.

Day 5: Discover Sossusvlei & the "Dead Vlei"

Today you will embark on a discovery tour to the impressive rust-red dunes in Sossusvlei – here you will find “Dune 45”, one of the highest sand dunes in the world. The off-road vehicle takes us for the next 5 kilometres into the “Dead Vlei”, a salt pan with dead trees – it’s like being on another planet.

In the afternoon, you can take your hire car on a detour to the mighty Sesriem Canyon. You can hike directly into the canyon from the car park. However, it is far more impressive to view the canyon from above – the earth suddenly opens up and you can look down up to 30 metres into the depths.

Hotel: Sossusvlei Lodge - 2 Nights

Sossusvlei Lodge is situated at the gateway to the Namib Naukluft Park and offers direct access to the towering red sand dunes, the famous pan of Sossusvlei, the scorched black trees of Dead Vlei and the remarkable depths of the Sesriem Canyon.
Experience the true art of hospitality with the attentive staff contributing to a truly memorable experience. Facilities include a sparkling pool, bar, sun deck, beer garden and outdoor terrace where you can enjoy exquisite food, award-winning wines and magnificent views of the floodlit waterhole.

Superior Room
Superior accommodation at Sossusvlei Lodge features a terrace overlooking the desert landscape, a spacious air-conditioned twin room and a full en-suite bathroom. The standard family units consist of two rooms connected by a lockable connecting door between the two private bathrooms. The elegant junior suites have a spacious bedroom, a living area, a terrace with swimming pool, a large bathroom and inspiring views.

Day 6: Continue to Swakopmund

Today you have the optional opportunity to float over the red dunes of Sossusvlei in a hot air balloon. You can book this unique experience with us at any time of the year, apart from a few exceptional dates. I will be happy to advise you on this.

We then continue to Swakopmund, approx. 360 km away (journey time approx. 4 hours). On the way, a stop in Solitaire is worthwhile – the oven-fresh apple strudel you get here is the best in Namibia.

You will reach Swakopmund in the late afternoon.

Day 7: Optional: Katamarantour or The Living Desert Tour

Optional: Living Desert Tour
The desert is alive: Today you can optionally explore the mysterious Namib Desert during a guided tour in an off-road vehicle. Folgen Sie den Spuren der Wüstenechsen- und Chamäleons und genießen Sie die endlose Schönheit der Dünen-Landschaft.

Hotel: Swakopmund Guesthouse - 2 Nights

Swakopmund Guesthouse is situated in the town centre, just a five-minute walk from the beach and the main shopping area and is run by the Borg family. Eight standard rooms, eight luxury rooms and a family suite for guests who want to treat themselves to a comfortable stay close to the sea.

Luxury Room
The spacious rooms are decorated with crisp white bed linen and wallpaper, showcasing peaceful ocean views and emphasising the clean and sophisticated atmosphere of the guest house. The en-suite bathrooms with cream-coloured walls are decorated with beach pebbles and create a unique atmosphere.

Day 8: Continue into Damaraland

Today you will travel via the Skeleton Coast and the Brandberg massif via Uis to your accommodation in Damaraland, which is around 280 km away (journey time approx. 3 hours) and which you will reach in the early afternoon.

After your arrival in Damaraland, you can first check into your camp and relax.

My suggestion for the afternoon: Explore the mystical Twyfelfontein on your own, where you will come across the oldest evidence of Namibia’s past. Discover the mysterious rock paintings as well as the bizarre formations of the Petrified Forest and the Valley of the Organ Pipes.

Day 9: In search of the desert elephants

Together with a guide, you will travel through the vast steppe landscape today. In an off-road vehicle, you will follow the tracks of the rare desert elephants, the sighting of which is undoubtedly a highlight of your trip. As you roam the area in search of the famous pachyderms, you can also look forward to encounters with giraffes and antelopes.

Hotel: Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp - 2 Nights

The Twyfelfontein Adventure Camp is situated amidst granite rocks, only ten minutes by car from the Twyfelfontein Rock Engravings, within walking distance of the Damara Living Museum and in the Huab River Valley. A visit to the neighbouring Damara Living Museum is possible by prior arrangement. It offers a fascinating insight into the people, heritage, pulse and soul of Damaraland.

Premuim Tent
The 10 premium tents are spacious and equipped with high-quality furniture, a mini-fridge and an en-suite bathroom. The elevated position on platforms on which the premium tents are located offers wonderful views of the picturesque landscape.

2-hour Jeep Safari in the Huab Valley

Day 10: Continue to the Etosha National Park

After a hearty breakfast, set off via Outjo towards Etosha National Park: you will reach your lodge around lunchtime after a 3-hour drive (approx. 280 km).

After refreshing yourself at your lodge, you can explore the Etosha National Park in your own hire car in the afternoon.

Day 11: Etosha National Park

The vastness of the Etosha National Park is a real highlight of your trip. For this reason, I have organised a full-day game drive in an off-road vehicle with a ranger for you today. The observation tour starts early and you can look forward to numerous encounters with the “Big 4”, because apart from the buffalo, all representatives of Africa’s big five can be found here.

Hotel: Oberland Lodge - 2 Nights

The main building is surrounded by large, ancient mopane trees in a wild but park-like setting. The reception area is reached via a curved wooden walkway that leads through tall grass (high after the rainy season) and around gnarled trees. As you enter the lobby with its bar and spacious seating areas, your gaze is drawn through the open building to the vast savannah, where the first animals can often be spotted. The large infinity pool also offers a fantastic view of the open plain in front of the lodge and the two waterholes. As the sun slowly sinks over the horizon, it is wonderful to sit back on one of our small private seating islands and watch the spectacle of the changing colours.

The spacious suites have been lovingly integrated into the natural surroundings. They are so far apart and so cleverly aligned that there is no trace of a neighbour. As a result, the rooms offer a high degree of privacy and an unobstructed view of the savannah. The perfect place to admire your special surroundings in the shade of the mopane trees. For the very brave, there is an outdoor shower hidden in a tree. The ingredients for a relaxing stay are 75 m² of living space, tasteful natural furnishings and colours, air conditioning and Wi-Fi in the room, minibar, tea and coffee station and, above all, the incredible view.

After your arrival at midday, you can refresh yourself in the pool before you have the opportunity to experience a very special highlight in the afternoon: During an optional visit to the AfriCat Foundation, you can observe cheetahs, leopards and co. up close and learn a lot about the work of the aid organisation, which is dedicated to protecting wild cats

Day 13: Okonjima Private game reserve

To discover the uniqueness of the Okonjima Nature Reserve in its entirety, I have already included a morning game drive for you. While you roam through the bush in an off-road vehicle, you can observe the impressive wild cats in the wild and at close range.

Hotel: Okonjima Plains Camp - 2 Nights

Plains Camp is situated 700 metres from the airstrip in the secluded wilderness of the Okonjima Nature Reserve and offers majestic sunset views. The camp's design pays homage to the Hanssen family's history as cattle ranchers. It consists of three types of accommodation: 10 large View Rooms, 14 spacious Classic Rooms and six affordable Garden Rooms.

View Room
The 10 spacious View Rooms have earned their name because of their view of the Okonjima grasslands.
