Day 2: Continue to the Maasai

We travel along the western slopes of Kilimanjaro to the Maasai Lodge (transfer approx. 2 hours), where you will be welcomed at midday. In the vastness of the steppe, you will get to know the culture and traditions of the people.

After enjoying lunch in your traditionally designed lodge, you will have the afternoon to recover from the journey. Your first traditional highlight begins in the evening: a boma with the Maasai. While you savour local delicacies, you have the opportunity to learn interesting facts about the Maasai and their culture in a conversation around the fire.

Day 3: The Maasai

Your stay at the lodge includes the following Maasai activities: a traditional spear throwing competition with the Maasai warriors; a nature walk accompanied by a Maasai shaman to explore the surroundings and meet the villagers of Ngabobo who will share their extensive knowledge of herbs and medicinal plants with you and introduce you to the Maasai culture that has remained unchanged for centuries.

Hotel: Africa Amini Maasai Lodge - 2 Nights

Africa Amini Maasai Lodgee is located at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro near the village of Ngabobo and was built on 400 hectares of conservation land donated to Africa Amini Alama by the villagers of Ngabobo to honour the organisation for its ongoing charity work over the years. The main purpose of the lodge is to empower the community and generate income for social, educational, conservation and medical projects. The lodge was built by women and men from the village of Ngabobo using local materials.

2 x Bungalows in Maasai Style
In the middle of the wilderness of the Maasai steppe are seven Maasai-style bungalows, surrounded by a 200-hectare nature reserve with a magnificent view of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Behind it and stretching to the border with Kenya is the savannah, home of the Maasai. All bungalows are equipped with a modern rain shower and flush toilet and furnished with handmade furniture such as beds, side tables, cupboards and Maasai-style decorations. The bungalows are also suitable for families. Lighting and hot water are provided by solar energy.

Day 4: Continue towards the Ngorongoro Crater

Your route to the Ngorongoro Crater takes you past Lake Manyara. Tanzania shows its green side in Lake Manyara National Park thanks to the mirror-like lake and numerous other watercourses. What is really impressive are the hundreds of flamingos that stalk through the water on their long legs, forming a cheerful pink stripe.

You reach your lodge in the late afternoon, where the pool is already waiting for you as a welcome refreshment. In the Ngorongoro Crater itself, paradise on earth opens up before you. Wildlife spotting at its best is guaranteed – rhinos, hippos, elephants, buffalo and many other animals cavort here in a picturesque setting.
